BOPDHB COVID-19 updates - 5 March 2020

BOPDHB COVID-19 Grand Round presentation at Tauranga Hospital

Please note the following before watching the video:
The first 42 minutes focus on the disease itself. From 34:44 there is a question and answer session – the questions were not picked up by the microphone but in most cases the presenters have repeat the question. From 42:20 is a video on PPE – this video is not for a general practice context; it applies to the hospital environment. We are in the process of trying to source a video on PPE that is applicable to general practice.

Flow diagram for general practice to guide the assessment of people with possible COVID-19.

It is hoped that this provides clear guidance based on the current advice from both the Ministry of Health and the local technical advisory group.  This outbreak is likely to have a number of stages depending on how it spreads and so the process for assessing people will change.  Please note that the process does differ from other DHBs in New Zealand.  In particular, BOP general practice is not swabbing for COVID-19 so our diagram is specific to our area.  The technical advisory group who dictate the local process next meet on Monday morning and any changes will be communicated
