New in-service videos for nurses on Te Whāriki ā Toi, the BOPDHB online learning site

These concise, clinical sessions delivered by experts on topics of interest to nurses who want to develop their professional skills.   These video sessions are 20-30 minutes long.

The October sessions are now available to view.   October’s theme was Venous Thromboembolism and the three topics covered were:

  • Venous Thromboembolism – the leading cause of preventable death in hospitals worldwide

  • Mechanical prophylaxis – physiology and practical application

  • Chemical prophylaxis - Enoxaparin

Plus “Matt’s Story – The Deteriorating Patient”.   Matt’s mother, Heather Gunter, talks about the missed opportunities to address the deterioration which led to Matt’s death.   This 40 minute video is highly recommended viewing.

Use this link to access Te Whāriki ā Toi and then search for “Nursing Inservice Videos”.

If you don’t have a Te Whāriki ā Toi account, contact Online Learning at and they will set up an account for you.

Please note that your organisation needs an Online Learning Memorandum of Understanding with BOPDHB.   If you are not sure whether your organisation has one, just get in touch with the Online Learning team at the email address above.
