Advance Care Planning Training 2017

The L1A or One Day Workshop is for any health care practitioner or management team member interested in learning more about ACP and ACP policies and processes.

Advance Care Planning One Day Workshops (L1A):  15 June 2017 (Closing date 30 May 2017)
Advance Care Planning Level 2 Practitioner Training:  30-31 March 2017 (Closing date 13 March 2017)

This workshop will:

  • Support you to take part in basic/uncomplicated ACP conversations
  • Explore the New Zealand legal framework & where ACP sits within it
  • Explore ethical challenges in ACP & how this impacts on your practice
  • Assist you to capture a patient’s voice through conversations & documentation


There are 16 places available per course and has been awarded 6.7CME credits by the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

Please note successful delegates must have completed the L1 eLearning module prior to attending.

The Level 2 Training
is for experienced doctors, nurses and allied health workers who are involved with  patients, particularly those with long term conditions in hospitals, community health settings and residential aged care facilities.

The 2 day course is designed to help develop advanced communication skills to help clinicians effectively initiate & participate in complex communication conversations.

There are 10 places available on the L2 course and it requires 100% attendance from delegates. It is not suitable for new graduate staff in their first scope of practice. The course has been accredited with up to 17.2 CME points from the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

Please note there is compulsory pre-work to be completed prior to attending L2 training. This includes background reading, and the completion of the L1 eLearning module.

Both the L1A and the L2 courses are  fully funded by the BOPDHB.
