Chlamydia Pathway - Testing for other sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

Testing for other sexually transmitted infections (STIs):

  • should be offered to all patients that:
    • are symptomatic
    • have had a positive chlamydia test
    • are contacts of someone with Chlamydia trachomatis
  • a full STI screen includes:
    • HIV
    • gonorrhoea
    • syphilis
    • hepatitis B screening and vaccination – if appropriate
  • if the patient is within the window period for HIV and syphilis, these should be repeated at an appropriate time interval.
