Carpal Tunnel Pathway - Splinting

Splinting should be tried at night for a 4 week period

Wrist splints:

  • reduce symptoms and increase functional status
  • maintain the wrist at a neutral angle]
  • do not apply direct compression¬†

A wrist splint is worn at night to support the wrist and keep it in the same position. The splint prevents the wrist from bending, which can place pressure on the median nerve and aggravate symptoms.

An improvement in symptoms is often seen within four weeks of wearing the wrist splint. Wrist splints are usually available from larger pharmacies, they can also be ordered online.

Futuro splints are recommended and obtainable from pharmacies either from shelf stock or ordered in within 24 hours.
