Sore Throat Pathway - Throat Swab Positive and High Risk for Rheumatic Fever

A patient is considered high risk for rheumatic fever if personal, family or household history of rheumatic fever or if theyhave 2 or more of the following criteria:

  • Maori or Pacific
  • Aged 3-35
  • Living in crowded circumstances* or lower socioeconomic area (i.e. those living in Quintile areas 4 and 5)

If only 1 criteria see low risk box
