Consider the following:

  • Patients are more sensitive to use of diuretics and vasodilators (eg ACE inhibitors, Calcium Channel Blockers) and these should be used cautiously.

  • There is no evidence on which to base treatment of this group (unlike in systolic heart failure) and therapy should target.

    • Underlying conditions - especially hypertension, rhythms such as AF, and coronary artery disease
    • Cautious use of diuretics to reduce peripheral oedema

Consider participation in cardiac rehabilitation classes
