Heart Failure Pathway - Examination

Examination findings consistent with heart failure:

  • Weight increase
  • Abnormal pulse rate and rhythm
  • Elevated blood pressure
  • Third heart sound or gallop rhythm
  • Presence of heart murmur
  • Cardiomegaly indicated by displaced apex beat
  • Raised JVP
  • Peripheral oedema
  • Resting tachypnoea
  • Basal inspiratory creps
  • Hepatomegaly
  • Reduced arterial oxygen saturation
